Welcome back to the poor man's Caribbean getaway!! Though we may not go far, we sure spend a lot of time doing it!! Why do I feel like an infomercial gone haywire?? Must be all that quality late night television...
When we signed off last week, we were sitting on our imaginary Caribbean island, the exotic sounds of distant steel drums echoing in our ears, the soothing rhythm of the ocean lulling us to sleep under the heat of the afternoon sun.
With a few simple props and a vivid imagination, we can be just about anywhere!! And, while I am a fan of the iBoozer Virtual Caribbean Getaway basic package, I do think there are a few things we can add to kick it up a little!! After all, we do have 5 senses, and we've only scratched the surface. Getting into the thick of things will be Sand-sational!!
1 oz vodka
1 oz spiced rum
1 oz light rum
1/2 tsp 151-proof rum
3 oz orange juice
1/2 sour mix
3 oz crushed ice
maraschino cherry
In order to more closely resemble a Caribbean island, our virtual getaway will need one addition. You guessed it. A beach!! Now this may be going a little too far for most people but if you like to live on the edge, and you have a spare room, you too can have your own secluded shoreline!!
First, clean out the basement and make a nice area on the concrete. You'll need someplace to put the water!! Now I'm a little biased, but I think a Mr. Turtle pool is just the coolest!! Set your pool off to one side, fill it up and jump right in. No need to worry about sharks in this tropical paradise!!
2 oz light rum
1 oz vodka
1 oz Sambuca
2 oz cream of coconut
1-2 scoops vanilla ice cream
2 oz crushed ice
shaved coconut
Now that we have the water, we need some sand!! If you're lucky enough to have kids in the neighborhood, you can slip on the camouflage, paint your face and go on a midnight search and retrieval mission. Or, if you prefer a simpler way, just drop by your local gardening store. Any good gardening supply store will be able to get sand for you. It's easier but it's not as much fun!! Once you have the sand in hand, or wheelbarrow, you need to carefully arrange it around your pseudo-ocean. I recommend putting the bulk of it around half the pool. This'll give you a nice area to kick back and relax. Not to mention making it easier to build a sand castle!! I don't know about you, but I think it's time for me to wrap this up, turn on my new screensaver and watch the sunset!!
3/4 oz rum
3/4 oz gin
3/4 oz blue Curacao
3/4 oz banana liqueur
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz lime juice
mint spring
slice of lime
As you may have noticed we uploaded some new drinks to the iBar. I hope everyone is enjoying the tropical treats!! This week we'll be updating the look to something a little more suited to the chubby Cherub. Keep your eyes open for our Valentine's day recommendations and be sure to check out our Valentine's day edition of the monthly newsletter. We had a guest writer this time around, and I think she did an outstanding job!!
Cheers,
iBoozer
