When I woke up this morning there was a chill in the air, just a little colder then it had been in recent weeks. It had been a while, but there was definitely something familiar about the feeling. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I stumbled upstairs to the living room and took a peek out the window. It was as though the world had been covered in a white sheet, fresh from the dryer. Only not so warm.
Everything was covered with snow!! The cars... the trees... the street... undisturbed except for a few fresh tire-tracks left by those already off to work. A fresh snowfall is much like a newly poured sidewalk, just begging for you to be the first to leave your mark! Having never been able to resist a "Wet Cement" sign, I pulled on some boots, grabbed my jacket, and headed into the chilly morning air, snow softly crunching under my step. Reaching down, I picked up a handful of the white-stuff and slowly packed it into a snowball...
3/4 oz gin
1/2 oz Pernod
1/2 oz Half-and-Half
Looking up, I spied my target. I wound up, took aim and released my first snowball of the year. It sailed gracefully through the air and flew right past the Red Maple tree on the other side of the yard, missing it by a foot. I guess it's a good thing I never wanted to be a pitcher!!
Disgruntled by my lack of aim, I covered my face and fell backwards into the snow. Laying with my arms out to my sides, I got a fantastic idea. Slowly fanning out my arms and legs, I cleared away some of the snow. Then I got carefully on my feet, stepped back and admired my newly created snow angel.
1/2 oz white crème de cacao
1/2 oz brandy
1 tbsp light cream
Having sufficiently tested out the new-fallen snow, I got down to some serious frolicking! Spending the next hour or so making snow angels, tossing snowballs and all other manner of winter-fun sure put a chill in me! Having had enough of the cold and snow I was ready to concede that I wasn't dressed for the weather and decided it might be best to head inside and warm up a little. Time for some hot cocoa!!
1 cup hot chocolate
1 1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
1 heaping tbsp whipped cream
cocoa
We are very excited about some of the recent changes and, from the feedback, so are you!! Over the next week we'll be working on a new section for our tips and tricks gallery. If there's a term, tool, or technique you would like to see explained, email us and we'll try to include it in the next update. After all, without you, we wouldn't be here!!
Cheers,
iBoozer
